Our NetSuite client requested us to develop many complex reports that are not the normal feature of NetSuite. Obviously, NetSuite cloud ERP offers tremendous possibilities in creating different types of reports. But the customization abilities provided within the NetSuite are limited. In certain circumstances, the client may require additional customizations in reports, which are out of the box features. One of our client approached us with a requirement to create different types of reports with extra customizations and additional features, and to display the same report snapshots in different role based user dashboards.

Challenges

NetSuite’s standard reports only display some basic information in a very simple manner. Our approached client wanted complex, highly structured reports with some additional customizations and extra information from customer records. How to create an organized, well structured, efficiently customized report with all the information required was one of the main challenges we faced during the report snapshot creation. Another challenge we met was how to display the report snapshots in the dashboard of the specific role-based users.

Our Solutions

With NetSuite Report Builder, we created different types of reports based on the category the client wanted. There were sufficient changes in the content displayed and in the format in which the information displayed. Our brilliant NetSuite Team analyzed the requirements thoroughly and the content needed to extract from customer records to display in reports. We solved the issue of displaying the reports by role base by creating custom centers and a set of custom roles. Then added the report to each role based user based on a set of permissions they have assigned. Our NetSuite Administration experts used Dashboard portlets to display the report snapshots in particular the user's dashboard as the requirement implied.

With the help of NetSuite Report Builder, we meet the client’s specific requirements of creating reports and customized them using Report Builder then created custom centers and roles to display the report snapshots using portlets, based on the role assigned to each employee.
